Graduation

What is graduation? Where is graduation? Is it a spiritual thing? Are we graduating from the amateur parts of our lives only to move on to the inevitable responsibilities and unexpected tragedies of adulthood? Could it be the rebirth of an already hatched and developed mind coming into the world of color, not just black and white? You see, its ironic. Color is what attracts the human eye; different skin colors representing various cultures intrigues the human race. The ever changing leaves in their prime catches the attention of the midday sun in the Fall. The rainbow after a sun shower on the murals that stand alone in the lobbies of school buildings and churches. Black and white is safe, but boring. It is always obtainable, never imaginable. I find color to be adventurous, but unrealistic. I have been living in color for quite some time and the verdict is always the same. Forever in a relationship; alone on the inside, struggling to matter in both the big picture and the small communities I'm not so much a part of. It gets tiring after a while, but it has become who I am. It is who others perceive me to be and who I have molded myself into. A man once told me to accept the things I cannot change, grow the courage to change the things I can, and indulge in wisdom in order to understand the difference. Well, I have! So now what? Now, I graduate from the routines and settlements I have endured throughout the years. I will begin to believe in a higher energy and spirit, but I must believe in myself as a higher being who possesses the ability, shared with God, to move forward. Piece of advice: One must move forward within the mind before taking a step into the future.
